On with the show!!

Who doesn’t love the spectacle of attending a show? Even better if you’re a participant!

Besides showing model horses I show a very special Mark 1 Fiat Punto Sporting 16V. It made me think of the reasons why we show our favourite things and what gives us the passion for them.

Car shows are similar to model shows in that there are different categories as well as specific shows for more specialist vehicles. We drive many hundreds of miles a year often just to park in a field without the prospect of a single prize!

So why do it? The pleasure we feel in exhibiting our pride and joy we have lovingly washed, polished and spent thousands of pounds on just to get it through the MOT is always enough of a reward to keep us doing this week after week. Of course there is spending time with like minded people and the opportunity for some retail therapy!

Most model shows have rosettes and placings but remember that even if you don’t gain any of these that pride in owning a precious model should always be reward enough!
